Gaob Bika LIMS 3 forms the basis of Bika Health, our LIMS specialised for health laboratories. Migration to Plone 4.2 is currently under way - please see the latest Bika Health 3 release candidate on-line demonstration installation at http://health.bikalabs.com/

Earlier

Version 0.3 is in production in a number of departments at the Sri Lanka Medical Research Institute. Since first publication of this page, the Bika Health project received a tremendous boost with Dr. Chris Larsen coming on board, see Dr. Chris Larsen joins Bika Health Foundation

Bika LIMS trunk's analysis profiling and worksheet templating are put to full use for one click requests of collections of analyses always grouped and processed together, as for TB and HIV testing. Ditto the new QC module and true working time calendar for late analysis alerts, and attaching microscope images and other files to results

Depending which Electronic Medical Records system (EMR) Bika Health will exchange data with in first implementation, a patient module and EMR interface will also be added. An OpenMRS HL7 interface, via Mirth, and Patient Demographics have been successfully demonstrated and investigations to interface with GNU Health based on Tryton completed

If advanced analysis results interpretation is required, Bika's result specification and validation will be enhanced to test for valid ranges not only against sample type, but also patient information such as age, gender and weight

Other areas for development will be LOINC dictionary and clinical instrument interfaces
