Motivation

"  Looking at the wireframe model is not really helpful especially for the microbiology part.

Antibiogram representation is rather unclear and even misleading.

From what stands in the wireframe model the representation table is general and applies to all antibiotics which would be completely wrong….

And, by the way, when disk diffusion is in question, there are couple of standards for interpretation, like CLSI (NSSLS), BSAC,…

it is very important that numerical data is recorded (which is the case in Bika), but the interpretation should also be standardized in order to have comparable results.

And also disk diffusion is certainly not the only method - how do you plan to enter MIC results as it is used also for antibiotics microbial resistance."

"Patient model is necessary, with special regard to using microbiology data
(both clinical and hygiene) in epidemiology surveillance for example. Also,

patient data should be used carefully trough the lab system in order to
maintain confidentiality at the highest level"

ISO 15189 for Clinical Microbiology Labs

" Sticking to the 17025 functionally covers lots of things needed
for the higher requirements of ISO 15189. There are lots of world-wide
and national standards used in microbiology.

It is not possible to develop a successful LIMS ignoring them.

It would be acceptable if the user could implement the codes,
interpretation tables and so according to these standards without
compromising the functionality...

HL7 is a nice feature, but I think it is
not a priority. And when the time comes, It would be rather easy to
implement, as in the new Standard HL7 messages are pure XML..."
