DTI sponsors Bika Health LIMS
We are proud to announce to have received written confirmation that Bika Lab Systems was granted 50% of next phase Bika Health development cost by the SA Department of Trade and Industry's Support Programme for Industrial Innovation (SPII)
SPII set the project's objective as a 'Final proto-type' of a LIMS for medical laboratories, running SQL back ends, Plone 3 and interfaces to key laboratory instruments. Along the way we'll address Interoperability and HL7 issues but these were not specifically included in the scope of the grant
Final evaluation is cautiously set for 31 October 2009... Internally we aim for a Beta in July and a mid term milestone of a desktop installer, pre-configured for remote and resource poor settings not requiring SQL
First target is 31 January, 'User requirements specification, technical design' - thanks to the work in place already, well feasible
We'll keep on exploring funding for the remaining 50% of development. Individual client sponsorship for instrument and HL7 interfaces could be considered. Please continue to send us comment and suggestions. The Bika Health project page will be updated once we get going
