BBK SAWLA lab of the year
BBK, Bika's anchor client in Worcester, South Africa, finished in combined first position in the SA Wine Laboratory Association's inter-laboratory proficiency testing scheme for 2008. BBK shared the top spot with Wynlab Services, Wellington, from a group of 45 participating laboratories
Our wholehearted congratulations to BBK's Adel Stander and Theresa Louw at Wynlab Services and their teams. In a show of consistency, both labs improved on their 2007 performances, Wynlab Services from 3rd and BBK from 6th after missing a round - SAWLA's scheme is policed by the draconian Bika Interlab LIMS!
To assess their accuracy objectively, 45 members of SAWLA, the South African Wine Laboratory Association, statistically compare analysis for homogeneously sampled wine, benchmarking their performances within the South African wine industry. SAWLA plans to expand the PT scheme internationally in 2009
The association uses web based Bika Interlab to manage the proficiency testing scheme. Results are submitted on-line for 2 samples per month and key statistical parameters, distribution and performance graphs are available as soon as rounds close
ISO 17025 accredited BBK laboratory enters their 5th year on Bika Wine, Bika's LIMS for the wine and beverages industry. BBK, in the Western Cape's Breede River Valley, provides wine bottling and analytical services to member estates, co-operatives, international buyers and chain stores
