Bika Ubuntu installer community contribution
In another big contribution from the Bika LIMS Open Source community, Jascha Silberman of the TH Wildau University of Applied Sciences, developed an Ubuntu installer for Inkosi LIMS and made it available for free on the General Public License
Bika Health presented to CCAS
In a recent talk titled “Strengthening Trough the Development of Laboratory Information Systems”, Dr. Christoph H. Larsen presented Bika's LIMS for public health and clinical laboratories to the Caribbean Cytometry & Analytical Society (CCAS), the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Training Network (CHART) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at their 2nd Joint Meeting in Barbados under the banner “Cost Effective Management and Quality Laboratory Monitoring of Individuals with HIV and Coinfection with TB”

The International Workshop on e-Health in Emerging Economies - IWEEE - is a biannual congress held in Canary Islands, Spain and in Brazil. Because of their geographical locations, Canary Islands links Africa, Europe and the Americas, while Brazil concentrates on the Latin America reality.
Dr. Chris Larsen joins Bika Health Foundation

Interlab 1.3 released
The South African Wine Laboratory Association, SAWLA, over a period of months, sponsored a number of incremental improvements and new features to Interlab, Bika's web based LIMS for inter-laboratory proficiency testing. These are bundled in this release

Bika Health Foundation's Dr Chris Larsen presents a talk 'Addressing the fragile environment of e-health in resource-limited settings' at AfriHealth 2011, Nairobi, Kenya tomorrow. AfriHealth brings together researchers, medical practitioners and information technology personnel to share information on the use of ICT to improve healthcare in Africa and the practical mobilisation of healthcare projects
Bika LIMS 3 into view
An on-line Bika LIMS 3 alpha release was made available on Plone 4.1 for peer review - looking very good indeed and showcasing further flexibility and automation
Bika succeeds in Bio-Informatics laboratory
A master’s thesis using Inkosi Bika LIMS, “Information Management in the Molecular Biology Lab: Wiki and LIMS” was successfully completed by Jascha Silbermann at the Research unit for Molecular Biology and Functional Genomics at TH Wildau University of Applied Sciences. Bika LIMS has thus far been perceived mainly as leading Open Source chemistry LIMS with applications in agriculture, food and beverages, environmental monitoring and water quality management.

Lemoene presented Health, Bika's LIMS for public health laboratories, on behalf of the Bika Health Foundation at the 3rd International Workshop for e-Health in Emerging Economies, Luxembourg, 6 April, in a talk "Open Source laboratory management in resource-poor settings"
