Bika Interlab 1.0 live at SAWLA
The South African Wine Laboratory Association's inter-laboratory comparison LIMS has been taken into production and wil be released on the open source general public license soon
Bika's ground breaking web-based LIMS for inter-laboratory proficiency
testing came through parallel testing recently and is being prepared on
Plone 2.5 for release in the next few weeks. Bika developed the
Interlab skin from SAWLA requirement employing the Bika LIMS trunk
as under structure
SAWLA member labs statistically compare analysis results for wines sampled from the same tanks on a regular basis. In a world first for the wine industry, key statistical parameters, distribution and performance graphs are available to authorised users immediately after results are submitted. Performance histories are updated and available in graphical format at the member lab's home page
Approximately 50 member laboratories take part - 2 samples each
per month tested for any number of standard wine related analytes, resulting in approximately 1000
analyses per month for statistical comparison
The LIMS is hosted by Bika lab systems as subscription service, LSP, priced per analysis
An enthusiastic acceptance by SAWLA initiated the design of Bika Interlab 1.1 currently under way - new features will include amongst others the ability to restrict analyses to a previously set-up selection of methods, and maintaining a Top 5 list of the best performing member labs. SAWLA plans to have the interlab scheme ISO 17025 accredited and Bika looks forward to assist the association in this process
Results per method
Bika invites all inter-laboratory testing organisations to contribute
to future designs. The Bika community's user mailing list provides the
best platform for discussion, alternatively contact us at info@bikalabs.com
An on-line demonstration installation will be available at
Bikalabs.com shortly after Interlab 1.0's release
