The demo is set up for a variety of sample types - not the way it is normally utilised, but to illustrate that Bika can be used in any industry. Sample attributes can be customised to requirement in the Bika Schema editor or included in implementation services offered by Bika Lab Systems

In the code, Bika 1.1 still carries references to the LIMS for wine laboratories it was customised for at first, but does not effect its appearance or behaviour  - in next releases these too will be replaced by generic attributes

In the current 'commercial' set-up, cost of requested analyses are shown - another customisation that can easily be modified for in-house research laboratories. Currently there are only 10 analysis types set-up, these can be modified by lab managers to requirement in the 'site set-up'

The Bika LIMS has an 'Orders' module for laboratories selling supplies and non analytical services, this has not been set-up in the demo but feel free to have a look under 'Products' in the site set-up and 'Orders'. Please consult the Bika lab manual for details on all of the above

Fax and mail servers were left dormant in the installation -  the demo will not email, SMS or fax analysis and query results or price lists. We recommend using English only as the schema customisations have to be translated for the other languages included with Bika 1.1

Neither has the demo been set up with digital encryption and certification, time-out and enforced password change security features, easily installed and configured during implementation
